Gaji-jjim(Steamed eggplant) Recipe

WHAT IS GAJI-JJIM?

Gaji-jjim (steamed eggplant) is a simple and flavorful Korean side dish. The eggplant is either steamed or lightly grilled, then topped with a savory and slightly spicy sauce made with gochujang, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil. The soft texture of the eggplant absorbs the rich flavors of the sauce, making it a delicious and healthy dish that pairs well with rice.

INGREDIENTS

- 7oz eggplant(200g)
- 1.7oz onion(50g)
- 1/2stalk green onion
- 0.7oz carrot(20g)
- 1.5Tbsp TaigerSpoon Sauce



- 1 chungyang pepper
- 2Tbsp cooking oil
- 3Tbsp water
- 1Tbsp starch powder


DIRECTIONS

  1. Prepare the ingredients
    TIP 1. Slice the eggplant in half lengthwise and score the inside to help the seasoning absorb better.
    TIP 2. Finely chop the garlic, onion, green onion, carrot, and chili pepper.
  2. Mix the chopped garlic, onion, green onion, carrot, and chili pepper with TaigerSpoon sauce.

  3. Lightly coat the eggplant with starch powder. In a pan, add cooking oil and a little water, then steam-fry the eggplant. Once the eggplant is cooked, top it with the prepared sauce and enjoy!
