Got Questions?

Q1. Do you have any tips to make stir-fried squid even more special?

Taiger:

Adding a spoonful of sesame oil and a sprinkle of sesame seeds at the end gives it a nutty and rich flavor.

Harry:

You can also prepare some fresh lettuce or perilla leaves and wrap the stir-fried squid in them. It creates a new flavor and texture, making it a perfect dish for hosting guests! 😊

Q2. What Korean dishes pair well with stir-fried squid?

Taiger:

Stir-fried squid goes really well with rice. Mixing it with rice, like bibimbap, allows the sauce to seep into the rice, making it even more flavorful.

Jung:

That’s right! Pairing it with a clear soup like seaweed soup (miyeokguk) can also help balance the spiciness.

Q3. Can I use the same seasoning with ingredients other than squid?

Taiger:

Yes, you can use shrimp, chicken, or tofu instead of squid, and they taste great too. Shrimp, in particular, cooks quickly like squid, so the method is quite similar.

Han:

For chicken, marinate it in the sauce for about 30 minutes before stir-frying to let the flavors soak in. For tofu, lightly fry it first to add a nutty flavor—it’s absolutely delicious.

Q4. What additional vegetables or ingredients can I add to stir-fried squid?

Taiger:

Adding a variety of vegetables to stir-fried squid makes it more flavorful and nutritious. Adding cabbage gives it a sweet touch, while carrots add color and a subtle sweetness.

Amy:

That’s right. Zucchini can add a soft texture, and if you like spicier dishes, you can add green chili peppers for an extra kick.

Q5. How should I store and reheat leftover stir-fried squid?

Taiger:

Store leftover stir-fried squid in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freezing is recommended.

Jerry:

When reheating, do it over low heat or use a microwave with a lid to retain moisture. Adding a bit of water or extra sauce while reheating will help keep it as juicy as when it was first cooked. 😊
